Dickie Fredericks is a Florida based guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and producer.
He started playing guitar at age seven with his fathers help and eventually studied with Bob Jeffers at the Indian River Guitar Academy. Between the ages of eight and eleven he took piano lessons and then played saxophone in the school band in Jr high. By age sixteen he was playing clubs in bands with his fathers friends. During his late teens Dickie performed at the local theater performing shows such as Oklahoma and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Ten years in the Orlando area saw Dickie as highly sought after performer and Disney area entertainer performing 300 shows per year (sometimes 3 a day). During this time he also served as guitarist for blues man, recording artist Floyd Miles.
After a move to South Carolina, Dickie began writing, recording and touring with country music artist Barry Brown and between 2005 and 2011 was part of his “New School Hicks”. In between performances with Barry and his own Dickie Fredericks Band, Dickie wrote songs with artists such as Fleetwood Mac’s Billy Burnette including Barry’s single, “Redneck Proud” during regular visits to Nashville.
At this time Dickie formed partnerships with Deering Valve Amplification (The DVA 90 Dickie Fredericks Model) and OceanEFX.
Dickie currently uses Ibanez and Fender guitars, Deering Valve Amplification, Fractal Audio Systems’ Axe FX II, Saluda Elements (Picks) D’Addario EXL120 strings 9-42 and a variety of gadgets and gimmicks.
Dickie’s musical influences are quite varied and include in no particular order:
Ace Frehley, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Unknown Hinson, Junior Brown, Jerry Reed, Phil Keaggy, Edward Van Halen, Michael Schenker, Larry Carlton, Steely Dan, The Rippingtons, All the Florida Southern Bands, Floyd Miles and all the pop music my parents raised me on.
Dickie works in his own Prim(e)ar Recordings studio recording new music and creating new content for the Dickie Fredericks You Tube channel which features Dickie Fredericks music and music videos as well as gear related content such as product reviews and playing techniques and tips.
